Host Elaine McFadden, Smart Health Talk Radio Show discussed how big corporations want to STOP CITIZENS RIGHTS BY FORBIDDING laws that ask for GMO labeling or TO stop GMO contamination in their counties. We have to KILL THAT BILL and take back our rights to keep GMOs and poisonous pesticide OUT OF OUR FOOD! Laws already passed will become VOID. The law passed below by 70% in this conservative part of the state TO SAY NO TO GMOS included. A majority didn't want GMOs grown in their county where drift will contaminate their crops and millions of dollars lost. Can't sell to countries that don't allow GMOs, and could no longer can call certified organic even though the farmer followed all the rules. GMO labeling laws in Vermont, MA, CT WILL BECOME VOID IF HR 1599 PASSES!!!!

This issue is one of control, not safety. Statistics attest to the safety and health benefits of raw milk that has been produced as Nature intended. People who drink raw milk think for themselves. A controlling government run by corporations needs to control people:They want non-thinking masses in order to maintain their status quo. "Insurgents" like raw milk drinkers can help change the world one glass at a time. People who drink raw milk are generally educated in the principles of safe food. Not all raw milk is safe to drink! The dairy industry knows that the milk from grain fed cattle is NOT safe to drink raw. A traditional breed of milk cow that is organically grass-fed is able to produce milk safe to drink raw. Learn more objective science-based information about this through RAWMI: a voluntary organization designed to promote and maintain the safety of raw milk.
Raw milk - nothing like it. Enjoy and tell the bureaucrats to go away. Those nanny ninnies need to shut up and take care of the real problems in the food industry. Thank you again for another horribly one sided article. Although the FDA and groups of "smart" people can go on witch hunts for raw milk, they do nothing to stop Americans from getting sicker, fatter, and more prone to life threatening diseases. It is the hubris of the inteligencia that will be man's downfall. While they worry about 2 deaths in 13 years, they do little to nothing about the millions who die because of the processed foods they consume. Shame on them all. Why is it you never hear about any farmers and their families getting salmonella. You people are so brainwashed. I like Peter was raised on a farm. We didn't have the GMO, Factory eggs, Corn fed cow's milk with antibiotics, Antibiotic pumped beef. We had what nature intended. REAL FOOD. So what your saying Victor is your gut is used to garbage. Robert, grow up and use your brain instead of talking like a doorknob IQ. Epstein, where I live, we still have raw milk, REAL eggs, organic veges, and grass fed beef. Grass fed beef don't get salmonella. The plants they graze on kills it. The mass produced beef don't get grass. All they get is ground up corn and soy and some hay which is not their natural food. They are sick when they're slaughtered. That's why they are shot up with antibiotics. Enjoy your slime people. My siblings and I were raised on home grown everything, milk, eggs, meat, and veggies.. We had no other choice, as did most of the kids we grew up with.. We traded eggs at the country store for sugar, salt, pepper, and coffee... I was unaware that you could buy most of the foodstuffs that most buy nowadays in a store.. After leaving the farm, we still produced what we needed at home until I left home to be married. I can't remember any of us being sick until much, much later in our lives after the transition to store bought food.. If I had the opportunity, I would revert back to these days in a new york minute. I think all the hormones, and preservatives in our "store bought foods, are what is causing all the modern day illnesses and disease. My family still occassionally butcher our own meat, can our own veggies, and make our own applebutter and preserves and jellies. Oh how I can remember all those delicious and healthy meals my mom prepared for us kids.. Too bad we can't go back and live it all over again.. I remember all that homade sweet butter, and ice cream we made... Was a wonderful life... Didnt have many material things, but we were healthy , happy, and loved.... My mother's milk dried up before I was three months old. My grandparents kept goats, I was raised on RAW goat's milk, and guess what??? I'm still here! And it never made me sick! I actually have a hard time digesting pasteurized milk, it gives me a stomach ache. But raw milk sits very well in my stomach, and doesn't give me any problems. The natural cultures in milk are beneficial, but they want to sterilize everything into oblivion, and then wonder why so many American people have digestive issues when they aren't getting the cultures and enzymes they need because they've all been destroyed before the food ever got to them! But wait, if people have for gut issues then they'll be more likely to buy a prescription to treat them, so of course DOCTORS are saying this needs to be done. It's good for THEIR bottom line! The reason milk sold in stores is pasteurized in these days of refrigeration is because of the terrible conditions that dairy farms allow for their cows. We drink raw organic milk from a local dairy that has its milk tested for pathogens every. single. week. (The required amount of testing is once a quarter for every dairy.) Our milk isn't released to shareholders until the tests come back and they are rarely unacceptable. Whenever there are pathogens possible, they hold the milk to turn into cheese or retest a few days later and by that time the lactobacillus and other good bugs in the milk have destroyed the pathogens and the milk is once again safe. My whole family is healthier with drinking raw milk; my son is 5 and has never had anything but breast milk til 1 and then this raw milk- he has no cavities, amazing bone density and is hardly ever sick. Plus, if we don't go through our allotted 2 gallons a week, I just let the milk go sour and use it for baking, because raw milk doesn't putrefy like pasteurized, processed stuff does. In fact, I have some soured cream in my fridge that is over 2 months old and I add it to my muffin recipes to make them the most delicious texture and they are so moist! Soured milk is also great for making bread and tortillas. Way to present both sides Yahoo! Next time do some homework on the myriad of enzymes (necessary to the digestion of dairy) and heat sensitive nutrients that are lost during the pasteurization process! I drank organic raw milk during my third pregnancy and had more energy and got sick less. Humans have been consuming raw milk for thousands of years before the industrialized era came along. Farms that sell raw milk have to be so much more careful how their cows and the milk are treated, just google some of the gross things in conventional INDUSTRIAL milk, including bleaching agents, #$%$, blood and feces. Fantastically good for you, because they boiled it. Right? We have two milk cows, one we milk and a back up for just in case. I can tell you EXACTLY whats in the milk. Range Grass (hay or green in its season) made mostly of local and wild grasses, a little cracked corn, and a little sweet feed (to keep the cow still so she wont kick so much). Once a year she gets wormed and once in her life a shot for blackleg. That's it. For these the bottle says not to drink the milk for "x" amount which we obey plus some. I've been drinking raw milk for about 15 years and never gotten sick from it. Everyone i know who drinks it says that they benifit in some way, even if they personally dislike the taste of milk. To say that raw milk carries too much risk to allow the public to decide for themselves is wrong and misinformed. Obviously you cant be stupid with it, you have to use a little bleach in the buckets and have extra buckets for the times your werent paying attention and she ruins the milk. This article completely doesnt take into account hand milking- which is what we do. Find out what the laws are in your state and make your own decision about raw milk! I was born and raised in the English countryside and we lived near a farm that had milk cows. We would always get our milk straight from the cow on a daily basis - my brother, sister and I drank raw milk for years and it never killed any of us. We are still alive and well. I think there's more things to be concerned about in our food sources given the many times I've heard of food recall due to salmonella. I was raised on raw milk in New Jersey in the fifties and sixties. Drank about a gallon a day through my teens from a Guernsey cow that tested 5.7 percent butter fat. Played and worked hard all my life and am 73 years old now. Today's milk is more than 80 percent water and loaded with chemicals and hormones.I'll take raw milk straight from the cow any day. I will bet that these test people are being paid by the commercial milk industry and the government. Most people today have never tasted real pure milk and would not recognize it as what it really is, pure milk. If I was younger I would have a house cow in the back yard today. This is the biggest crock of #$%$. If raw milk harms infants, then they should be drinking their mothers milk. You really expect me to believe that something that every generation around the globe has drank since recorded history started is bad for you? Even though kids go through puberty at 11-12 years old now because of all the steroids injected into the animals, but yes lets focus on raw milk. Forget that we are feeding you pink slime, you can wash it down with some pasteurized milk, or maybe some pasteurized OJ, if you can still call it that also. A lot of people leaving comments are from a farming background. I'm here to tell you that I grew up in the suburbs, washed my hands constantly at the urging of my parents and consumed a large amount of prepackaged processed food (mom didn't cook). I switched to raw milk from a small dairy farm near my home about a year ago. First, I have never tasted milk so delicious in my life. Second, I feel better (switched out a lot of the processed stuff as well). The point is I'm not dying. I feel better than I have in a long time and it's been my experience so far that raw milk usually comes from smaller farms with happier cows. It's easier to maintain sanitary conditions on smaller farms and the owners of these farms are generally conscientious people. I'm not pregnant, extremely young or elderly so maybe that's why I've managed to somehow stay alive these past twelve months while drinking "devil milk." I also grew up on raw milk, my relatives owned a farm, my dad hauled bulk milk, my uncle owned a dairy. We all used and enjoyed raw milk. Even 50 years ago the cows were tested, the bulk tanks were tested, the tankers were tested before they could unload. This is all bull feces. More power grab. This goes along with the you can't use natural fertilizer to grow food. More gov control. They prefer the farmers use chemical fertilizers made from oil. This is the lobbying protecting the businesses. I would tell the pediatricians to do real research first before trying to ban raw milk. Why do people listen to pediatricians, but not all the other people and even doctors that know that raw milk is better for you. It's always the "big guys" that get all the attention from press, radio, films and TV. I see where they are coming from, because if farmers give out raw milk, they do need to be clean and sanitary. But like many people have said, more people die from silly things than drinking raw milk at all. Why are kids allowed to drink red bull, and soda, but not raw milk? It is just ridiculous. And all the people drinking raw milk have much healthier lifestyles than people that drink skim milk, soy milk, etc. So I totally and utterly disagree with banning raw milk. Being a former Wisconsin dairy farmer, I have thought about this for a long time, and would like to give you my thoughts about raw milk. First and probably the most important thing you should keep in your mind is that the reason milk was pasteurized in the first place was for safety, yes you could die, or get sick from drinking it, and it happened enough to were people wouldn't drink it, the dairy industry worked hard to change that through pasteurization, this was at a time when refrigeration was almost non existant on the farm, and milk was being sold in stores. The farms were smaller, and the cows were taken better care of in the old days, but a lot of times an unhealthy cow was kept longer for financial reasons (when you only have twenty cows losing a few was costly). Cleanliness varied greatly in the "old days", and the milk wasn't tested like it is now, also in the old days cows were milked in a stanchion barn, today most are milked in a parlor, why does this matter, because the cows teats are easier to clean in a parlor, when I was growing up I would rarely drink the milk out of the cooler from the old stanchion barn, I would drink it from the cooler in the parlor any time. So would I buy and drink raw milk today ??? Yes, the people who are selling it are extremely careful about what they are doing, they have to be. Their will always be some risk, but I believe their are benefits from drinking it in it's natural state, and YOU should be able to make that choice, if you want too go ahead, if you don't buy the pasteurized milk it's cheaper. good gravy.... I was raised on a farm..all we drank was raw milk from the first days of our lives to when I graduated at 18. No one ever got sick from the milk.In fact we were healthier than the people who drank store milk! As kids we played in the pig pen yard mud and walked thru fresh cow pies and never picked up any diseases or bugs. We have gotten too germ conscience here in the US and because of this, is why so many get sick so easily is because we have not built up our immune system or a resistance to germs. I have consumed raw milk intermittently from the time I was a toddler (we had our own cow) through today, which I get from a local farm. Raw milk must meet the same standards that pasteurized milk meets to be sold, without the benefit of being heated to kill the bacteria that milk commonly becomes infected with from feces on large farms. The way this is avoided is through proper care and handling of livestock, equipment, and the milk. I have never gotten sick from it, nor do I know anyone who has. The only reason to pasteurize milk now that the difficulties we faced when we started doing so have passed is because large farms take poor care of animals and make no effort to prevent contamination by feces. This means the only way to keep people from getting sick is pasteurization. Instead, the better solution is to simply prevent contamination in the first place. This article is such B.S. We all know it. How much you wanna bet that this "Group of pediatritions" is funded by the big milk groups that are starting to lose money to the vendors who sell raw milk. The same exact odds of bacteria being in raw milk is just the same as pasteurized milk. Raw milk is scientifically proven to have more that 10 time the level of pro-biotics and 10 time the level of useable and LIVING organic calcium. You cant get that from milk that has been pasteurized. I started growing/raising my own foods after all the 'scares' with mass produced food. Boy do we feel so much better for it! In my state Raw milk can be sold in stores from inspected farms. My local grocer carries Organic Raw milk from a small family owned farm. Though, lately if you are going to get any at all, you HAVE to be there on Tuesday (the delivery day for my store) or you are not going to get any, it sells our fast. By the statistics above, there are more somplications form the common cold. And I wouldn't give it to babies because babies should be fed breastmilk (preferably) or formula that has everything they need. Straight milk of any type does not have what they need. I'll take mine raw, from a small farm that loves their animals and keeps them well. formula is worse than raw milk, my baby was put on formula after she was breast feed for 6 months and was always sick. we used raw milk after a month of formula and she hasn't gotten sick in the past year and a half only one small cold. our kids started drinking raw milk, and have not gotten sick since we had them start drinking it 1.5 years ago (5, 4, and 2 years old) I am 64. I never drank any store bought milk, except during the school year, or while in the army, for the first 24 years of my life. I recently had major back surgery, L1 - L5 fused due to a farming accident, and the neurosurgeon said I had the hardest, densest, bones he had ever encountered. We never had cattle back then. Our neighbors would sell us milk for a quarter a gallon. We would dip off the cream in the mornings for churning butter, stir up the milk with a big wooden spoon, and enjoy the good flavor every day at most meals. I believe the foods we have today, meats, vegetables, and processed meal parts like Mac n Cheese, are not as good as they used to be in taste or nutritional value. Add good homemade meals, with the kind of activity level I had as a kid, and we wouldn't have a childhood obesity problem in the United States. Playing video games is not a fair trade for baseball, tag, or just romping in the great outdoors fishing and hunting like I did as a kid and young man. And it is certain that a heated up can of Ravioli isn't a good replacement for a roast with potatoes, celery, onions, and carrots. I was raised the same way only we had our own cows. People are so germ free today they don't have the resistance to disease. Several years ago the army did a study of soldiers the ones raised on well water were less susceptible to disease than those raised on city chlorinated water. I hope people are listening! For awhile when I was driving my in-laws to Florida for the winter every fall, and picking them up during Easter break, I got raw milk while there. Of course the FL legislature put a stop to it. (It's all about Big Ag.) What is wrong with people!?! This is nothing more than government and its ilk grabbing for more control over our lives. We are (and have been for many years in my opinion) a nation that is rapidly losing our freedoms. Think about the tiny number of people affected by raw milk over the years (far more are killed in auto accidents), it is hardly a case justifying a national ban. This kind of nanny state action is not wanted, not needed, and not within the legitimate purview of government-at least a government that is alledged to be founded on the premise of individual freedom and liberty. I grew up on a farm in what was rural Warren County in The People's Republic of Jersey. I never had anything but raw milk growing up.We just dipped the jar in the Bulk Tank, and took it to the house. You had to shake it before you used it. When I first went in the Army on my first morning they gave me one of those little cartons of milk. I took one sip, and took it back up to tell the cook it was bad. He gave me another, and it was bad also. Then he figured out that I had never drank processed milk. We always cleaned the cows bags before milking, and cleaned the whole glass milking system every time twice a day. That way everything was clean all the time. I grew up on a farm in Oklahoma and we did the same thing. Every piece of milking equipment was cleaned and sanitized after every milking. We were also inspected once a month, the milk house, the milk barn, and the holding lot where the cows were kept until they were milked. It took me a long time to get used to store bought milk after I moved away from the farm. Just didn't taste the same. I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. We all drank raw milk from birth on. My father (long since deceased) could not adapt to processed milk, especially skim. or the milking machine can drop off the cow and fall on the ground and get contaminated. Wow.. The government won't be happy until they control everything we do, will they? I grew up drinking raw unpasteurized milk.. We got it directly from the farmer and had to shake our milk growing up because the cream would rise to the top... None of us 7 children ever got sick.. cooking things changes their nutritional value... If the farmer is clean and keeps a clean barn, contamination should never occur... People have drank milk straight from animals for thousands of years... They didn't die from it... "According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 148 disease outbreaks tied to raw milk or raw milk products were reported in 1998 through 2011. Those caused 284 hospitalizations and two deaths."...I wonder how many deaths from E Coli and Salmonella from eating "healthy" salads during that same time? Much of that from the less than desirable hygiene practices of our "friends" from the south who harvest said items. The Feds are all about shutting down small farmers and this is just one of their fronts where they can control their financial well being. Obama didn't put a Monsanto man in charge of the FDA because he's "all for the little guy". 148 outbreaks in 12years... cause it's soooo dangerous. As opposed to 33 in a few months in 2012 for tainted spinach. And Just October of this year recalls from Whole Foods on salads. And ground beef is always being recalled for ecoli. We have more infections and possible contamination in food in a 2-3 year period from fresh meat and veggies than we do in 12years from milk. Maybe we should ban the sell of anything non highly processed and freeze dried in a factory. This professor is an idiot. We always hand milked so milking machines falling on the ground was not an issue. I am so tired of people and groups taking choices away from us. If we want to drink unpasteurized milk we should have that choice. All I see is a group of people trying to bully the rest of us into seeing things THEIR way and them and the press trying to scare us into thinking they are right instead of letting us make that choice for our own. I grew up on unpasteurized milk...and was not raised on a farm. My sister and I lived and are still alive today....figure that one out! I avoid pasteurized milk as much as possible. There are a couple of farms near our home that sell raw milk, and that's where we go. You have to be careful, since there's another farm where I used to get milk but don't anymore (VERY unsanitary conditions), but if you do your homework and talk with the farmers, you'll find raw milk and raw milk products taste better and keep you healthy. I don't remember the last time I was sick. If you're going to a reputable farmer, they'll have no problem giving you a tour of their place, including where and how they milk their cows and process the milk. There are always risks & trade-offs in life. Yes. You MAY acquire a bacterial infection from raw milk. However you WILL NOT get beneficial enzymes from pasteurized milk. Why are enzymes important? Read: "Research has shown that people who have a chronic disease or have low energy levels also have lower enzyme content in their blood, urine, and tissues. While there is clearly a direct relationship between disease states and a person's enzyme levels, only recently has the NATURE of that relationship been better understood. Researchers began to question if a person's enzyme levels were low because they were sick or were they sick because their enzyme levels were low. The researchers found something surprising. A person may not have a low enzyme content because he is sick or old, but instead, the reason a person may be sick or old is because of low enzyme content." 's you roll of the dice. MAYBE get an infection that antibiotics can cure or GET old & sick from reduced enzyme levels.... I am 70 yrs old and was [plus my whole family] raised on raw milk. Back then every one who lived in the country were raised on raw milk. Also fresh churned butter. Used some of the creme off the milk on other breakfat foods. We also raised everything we ate. Only went to the store for necessites. Did not know what a soda pop was. Only sweets was what mom made. We all turned out very healty. The food one buys at stores today is not healty at all. That is why there is so much sickness in America. Little by little , the Mafia who controls our country and call itself Government , is transforming our society in a PRISON , with their lies "laws", deceit and fake propaganda. This monsters are way more diabolical then terrorists. Through schemes , disinformation ,and a huge arsenal of scare tactics , with the paid help of spineless slaves ( "doctors" , scientists" , and so on ) , this charlatans have only one goal : to control and enslave the vast majority of the population . MILK is safe. Drink it raw. Its better. Pasteurized milk stays fresh longer. That has NOTHING to do with the quality of the milk. There are more people dying of cancer and other horrible diseases nowadays, than 50 years ago. Over the counter pills , or the so called "miracle drugs" are infinitely more dangerous than milk. Only last year , more than 20,000 people DIED because of drugs APPROVED by FDA ! i was raised on raw milk from our farm. i am 46 now. i don't get colds,or sick i have no allergies, this is all corporate farm propaganda because it is taking $$$$$ out of their pockets. look at all the food that the FDA over see's that is recalled and look at how many people die from the foods the FDA gave their approval. look how healthy farm kids are compared to non farm kids. the FDA is in on agenda 21. look it up. our government agencies are making people sick and having all these allergies. If you trust what the government tells you. then you better go buy your burial lot now. The problem with pasturization is, it kills both GOOD and bad bacteria. I make cheese and it's so hard to make a good one with pasturized milk. All the enzymes that give cheese a good flavor are killed off during pasturization and have to be re-added. You think milk has a high calcium content...think again. The lack of calcium in milk is another obstacle in cheese making. It has to be re-added in the form of calcium chloride in order to make a good cheese. And finally, pasturization makes for a longer shelf-life in the grocery stores. With nearly all the bacteria, minerals and vitamins removed from pasturization, milk takes much longer to go rancid, so the grocery industry benefits from this greatly. If milk stays good for 2 weeks, you can count on the fact that it has been ultra-pasturized ( heated to 220 degrees) and has absolutely no nutritional value. That is why there is so much sickness in America. any thing the government can't make money off of is bad ,,,, Please when I lived in the Caribbean the Goat and cow milk I had was not processed and I tell you my stomach did not hurt or have bad trouble with gas and other problems like I do here back in the United States. I feel we put so much MESS in all our foods here in the U.S. that everything is about to bad for you if you don't make it your self fresh, O then if you make too much of it and the state finds out you will get in trouble, you can't win for losing with the government cause it's all about money!!! Oh right..just like taking the husk off rice and feeding us white rice, and bleaching and grinding flour to a pulp for white flour is so good for us. It is good for their wallets that is all. Taking all the nutrients and benefit out of the food to give it an ultra long shelf life so it can be shipped extremely far and sit on a shelf for years. It would be best to get your dairy from local, small, clean farms where you could easily trace your milk products back to. The bacteria (that pasteurization kills off) within raw milk can have a probiotic effect for drinkers, helping to rebuild immune systems and improve overall digestion. Raw milk also helps with allergies like local honey or other natural products where as ultra pasteurized milks leads to lactose intolerance and allergy problems. You are exactly right. Some of these modern doctors do not want kids to come in contact with any bacteria. Coming into contact with bacteria increases a person's natural immunity. We have many good doctors but we are getting some that have no common sense. And it is the ones with no common sense that want to force everyone to conform to their way of thinking. Mankind has been drinking raw milk for thousands of years. If it were bad, like these pediatricians want us to believe, mankind would died out a long time ago. Listeriosis MAY be found in milk products. What are the statistics on people getting ill from that? Meanwhile, the government allows hormones, #$%$, and antibiotics in the milk as a result of factory farming. Look below to see how much #$%$ is in your milk. From Food Matters: "...standard dairy cows are medicated with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to stimulate a much higher than normal milk production. This causes severe stress that results in mastitis, an infection of the udders of sick and stressed cows. This infection is, of course, treated with antibiotics, helping to breed more antibiotic resistant organisms. It is literally unbelievable that one liter (a little over a quart) of Californian milk contained 298 million pus cells in 2003, 11 million more pus cells than it contained in 2002. You might console yourself by saying "but milk is pasteurized. Surely the cells are cleared!" No, they are not cleared, they are only heated. So your kids drink dead pus cells. There is a slight consolation: some other states' milk contains a much higher pus cell count than California's. Alabama's has an average of 444 million cells; Nevada's has less: ‘only' 443 million; while Florida's milk has the highest count: 548 million pus cells per liter, or nearly 130 million per 8-oz glass. Even that is well below the USDA's allowable U.S. standard of 750 million pus cells per liter, above which milk must be consumed in the state in which it is produced! Most of the top executives in the USDA come straight out of the cattle industry, and return to lucrative jobs in that industry after their stint in the USDA where they make regulatory rulings favorable to cattlemen, instead of protecting the consumers who pay their salary." i was raised on raw milk from our farm. i am 46 now. i don't get colds,or sick i have no allergies, this is all corporate farm propaganda because it is taking $$$$$ out of their pockets. look at all the food that the FDA over see's that is recalled and look at how many people die from the foods the FDA gave their approval. look how healthy farm kids are compared to non farm kids. the FDA is in on agenda 21. look it up. our government agencies are making people sick and having all these allergies. If you trust what the government tells you. then you better go buy your burial lot now. The choice should be ours and we should be informed of both points of view! Articles like this make me sad. Someone might actually believe the lies being told and use this information to form a false opinion. I am all for people doing what they feel is best for their family based on truthful information. The fact is you can find studies to support any opinion you want on the internet from many bias sources. Pasteurization(of milk) has only been around for about 100 years but milk has been consumed for much longer than that without issue. The act of pasteurization strips milk of many positive benefits and nutrients. People raised on raw milk have almost no issues with lactose intolerance or other digestive issues. In fact one treatment for lactose intolerance is gradually introducing raw milk to the person and has a very high success rate. Not everything that we do for the betterment of our people is actually good. In many cases it does more harm than good. |
