David Binkle, Deputy Director from Los Angeles Unified School District Foodservice Department talked about their new community grant that will enable them to increase quality of school food menu items, and work within the community. They have already started changing menu items and connecting with local farmers. Donna Lombardi, Director Child Nutrition for Worcester School District explained how they have been able to increase nutritional quality of meals and implement school breakfast in the classroom programs. What parents can do at home to support healthy nutrition. Sarah Lindberg from Notables supplies prepackaged breakfast products that help make it possible for Donna's breakfast program. Label dectective skills are taught as the product label Nutrition Facts and ingredients for PopTarts and Nature's Path Organic Pastry Products are compared.
